DIY Fix Basic checks and safety preparation

1. Unplug the refrigerator from power or switch off at the breaker for safety.
2. Check that the fridge door is fully closed and seals are intact.
3. Observe if the fridge is cooling normally despite the error; note any unusual frost buildup.

Technician Only Inspect and test defrost sensor and wiring

1. Access the evaporator area in the fridge compartment by removing rear panels.
2. Locate the defrost/temperature sensor (thermistor) clipped to the evaporator coil.
3. Use a multimeter to test the sensor for correct resistance at known temperatures.
4. Inspect wiring harnesses for damage, disconnected plugs, or pinched wires.
5. Replace the defrost sensor if it reads open/short or out of spec; reassemble and test.
